HICKORY, N.C. - The University of Tampa Spartans women's lacrosse team concluded a two game road trip with a 15-6 loss to the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears. Tampa falls to 5-8, while Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 5-6.
Amanda Voges led the Tampa attack, as she recorded three goals on five shots. She also picked up a ground ball and caused a turnover. Amanda Rom, Shannon Sweeney and Natalie Carraway each contributed with a goal.
The Bears came out firing as they scored early and often on the day. Going into the halftime break Lenoir-Rhyne held a 10-0 advantage. Tampa was able to score their first goal in the second half, as Sweeney netted in a free position shot.
Overall UT was outshot by a 34-17 margin. LRU was also able to control grounballs 29-16. The bright spot for Tampa came in the draw control department, as they won 14-23.
Tampa returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Saint Leo to take on ther Saint Leo University Lions.
