
Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Mercy College for Tuesday Throwdown
The Spartans will host the Mavericks for a 7:30 p.m. contest at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex on Friday evening.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team prepares to welcome Mercy College on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. showdown at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex.
The Spartans enter the contest with a 2-7 overall record, fresh off of a 9-7 win over Indianapolis on Friday evening. Junior Amanda Voges and sophomore Natalie Carraway led the offensive charge with five points apiece. The attack tandem saw Voges net three goals with two assista while Carraway finished with two goals and three assists for UT.
Voges finished the day reaching her 100th career point and begins the meeting with Mercy at 102 points on her career, a feat ranking first in Spartan women's lacrosse history. The Bayshore, N.Y. native has 79 goals, which ranks her first in the UT history books and 23 assists in just three years at Tampa.
Sophomore Amanda Rom leads UT in draw controls with 20, adding seven each in goals and assists. Joining the offensive is sophomore Madison Creech, as the Fort Collins, Colo. native has six goals and two assists throughout the 2016 campaign.
A pair of freshman anchors the Tampa defense as Liz Kramer and Abby Coccagna hold down the back line. Kramer leads in caused turnovers with 13, a number she shares with fellow defender Amanda Parker. Coccagna has 16 groundballs and seven caused turnovers for the Spartan defense.
The Mavericks hold a 5-1 record heading into their trip to Florida. Mercy met Philadelphia University on the previous Friday, taking the victory behind a 16-3 final score. Grace Davidson scored four goals while Hunter Isnardi picked up eight draw controls.
