
Tampa Women's Lacrosse is Set to Host Bloomsburg University
After a heartbreaking loss to Slippery Rock, #UTWLAX hopes to bounce back against the Bloomsburg Huskies.
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team will host the Bloomsburg University Huskies tomorrow, at 7:30 p.m. This meeting marks the first matchup between the two universities.
The Matchup: University of Tampa (4-4) vs. Bloomsburg University (2-1)
Date/Time: Wednesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Rock of Slippery Rock University slipped past the Spartans 13-12, in a heavy downpour. On offense, the Spartans were led by sophomore Caroline Forester with four goals followed by freshman Maggie Gladden with three. Amanda Rom continued to lead the team in assists with three on the night, increasing her total to eighteen on the season. Rom also lead the team in draw controls, recording seven on the night. Freshman Mackenzie Hackett played goal keeper for the Spartans, earning five saves for UT.
About the Spartans: The Spartans finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 5-10, and made it to the Sunshine State Conference tournament for the first time in program history. Going into the 2017 season, they return their top three offensive weapons, Amanda Voges, Natalie Carraway, and Amanda Rom. Voges was also a 2016 Second-Team All-SSC selection. Nine freshman join the Spartans this year. Combined, Claire Swanson, Maggie Gladden, and Carly Vaccaro have 30 of the Spartan's total 108 goals on the season.
About the Huskies: The Huskies are currently 2-1 overall, and are part of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Offensively, the Huskies are led by sophomore Hannah Jaskuta who has six goals and one assist on the 2017 season. Following Jaskuta, senior Brigid Kyne, and freshman Sydney Collins have each recorded four goals. Of the two Kyne leads the Huskies in assists with four, followed by Collins with three. New to the Huskies roster this year is starting goal keeper, Angela DiPasquale. DiPasquale has recorded eighteen saves on the season earning herself an average save percentage of 78.3%.
Series History: This meeting marks the first matchup between the University of Tampa Spartans and the Bloomsburg University Huskies.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
