
Tampa Set To Host Concordia-St.Paul
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team will host the Concordia- St.Paul University Golden Bears tomorrow, at 1:00 p.m. This meeting marks the first matchup between the two universities.
The Matchup: University of Tampa (4-5) vs. Concordia-St. Paul (6-4)
Date/Time: Saturday, March 18th at 1:00 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Bloomsburg University Huskies snuck by the Spartans 10-9, in below normal tempuratures. The offense for Tampa was led by Amanda Rom with six points (four assists and two goals) four draw controls and one groundball. Rom continues to lead the team in assist with twenty-two after last game. Senior, Amanda Voges also had two goals in the match-up. In goal, Makenzie Hackett saved eigth shots with four groundballs.
About the Spartans: The Spartans finished the 2016 season with an overall record of 5-10, and made it to the Sunshine State Conference tournament for the first time in program history. Going into the 2017 season, they return their top three offensive weapons, Amanda Voges, Natalie Carraway, and Amanda Rom. Voges was also a 2016 Second-Team All-SSC selection. Nine freshman join the Spartans this year. Combined, Claire Swanson, Maggie Gladden, and Carly Vaccaro have 32 of the Spartan's total 117 goals on the season.
About the Golden Bears: The Golden Bears are currently 6-4 overall, and are part of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Offensively, the Golden Bears are led by freshman Kailey Heinl. The midfielder leads the team in goals with 29 so far with a total of 32 points. Fellow freshman, Maddie Hentges has a total of 29 points with 21 goals. 5' 10" Junior, Kallie LaValle leads the team in draw controls with 31 of the Golden Bears total 123 this season.
Series History: This meeting marks the first matchup between University of Tampa Spartans and Concordia-St.Paul University Golden Bears.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
