
Spartans Welcome Eagles in Final Regular Season Matchup
The No. 16 University of Tampa Spartans will welcome the Embry-Riddle Eagles for the teams final home game of the 2018 season.
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 16 University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is set to host the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday, April 21st, at 3:00 p.m in celebration of senior day.
The Matchup: No. 16 University of Tampa (11-5, 3-2 SSC) vs. Embry-Riddle (7-9, 1-4 SSC)

Last Time Out: The No. 16 University of Tampa Spartans defeated the Saint Leo Lions by a final score of 12-6. In the contest, sophomore Claire Swanson led Tampa on offense scoring four goals. Following Swanson's efforts was Carly Vaccaro who scored three goals and recorded three assists for the Spartans. Maggie Gladden notched two goals and Kayla Kosubinsky, Caroline Forester, and Rachel Crawford each scored one goal. Forester also led the Spartans with seven draw controls and five ground balls. On defense, Kristin Frizol had three caused turnovers and Vaccaro and Alexa Scudillo each recorded two of their own. Bridget Sutter suited up as the team's starting goalkeeper. Against the Saint Leo Lions, she faced 18 shots and recorded twelve saves. The Spartans held the Lions from scoring through the entire second half.
About the Spartans: Tampa is currently 11-5 overall, 3-2 in the Sunshine State Conference. To start the 2018 season, the Spartans played three top-ranked opponents. In their very first game of the season, they were able to defeat the No. 11 ranked Rollins College Tars 10-6. The Spartans then took on No. 13 Limestone College, and No. 7 Queens University. Although they lost both of these matchups, the games were close and the group has shown stellar performances since. In fact, Tampa's only losses this season have been from top-25 programs. Most recently, the Spartans lost to SSC rival, No. 1 Florida Southern, by one goal. Due to the team's outstanding performance thus far, the Spartans have Snagged the No. 16 rank according to the USILA Coaches Poll.
About the Eagles: The Eagles are currently 7-9 overall, 1-4 in the Sunshine State Conference. The biggest offensive threats for the Eagles are #5 Mya Watson and #9 McKenzie Jackson who each have 63 goals and a combined 46 assists on the season. Following these Eagles, are #2 Gillian Greenberg with 47 goals and 10 assists and #19 Erin Bryenton with 25 goals and four assists. Defensively, #11 Carson Toney and #8 Devyn Taht lead the Eagles in caused turnovers with 12 each. #21 Skylar Mossop heads the team with 42 ground balls and #9 McKenzie Jackson follows her with 28. Embry-Riddle's primary goalkeeper is #21, Skylar Mossop. Mossop has played in 15 games and started in 8 for Embry-Riddle. She has recorded a total of 95 saves for the Eagles.
Series History (Women's): This will be the first matchup between Tampa and Embry-Riddle.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens, and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
