Spartans Shine on a Super Tuesday Victory

TAMPA, Fla. – The 10^th ranked University of Tampa Spartans returned to action as they faced Concordia University, St. Paul in a Tuesday night showdown between one-loss teams.

How It Happened:

1st Half:

Cece Colombo would get things started for UT, as she would net the first goal of the game on a free-position attempt. After CSP would tie the game, the Spartans would score back to back goals as Claire Swanson and Kristyn Staley put the Spartans up 3-1. The Golden Bears were able to pull within one goal again but the Spartans were able to go on a run as they would go up five goals at the end of the half. || Tampa 8, Concordia-St. Paul 3

2nd Half: Tampa would keep its momentum in the second half as they scored the first three goals, netted by Hannah Bush, Swanson, and Colombo. The Golden Bears were able to string together six goals in the second half and were able to pull within five, but the Spartans were able to hold them off to earn their fourth victory of the season. ||  Tampa 14, Concordia-St.Paul 9

Inside the Stats:

• Four different Spartans would net hat-tricks as Cece Colombo, Hannah Bush, Claire Swanson, and Kristyn Staley each had three goals in the victory.
• Alexa Scudillo led the defense as the senior was able to cause two turnovers in her first game of the season.
• Bridget Sutter∫ would earn her fourth win of the season, as she recorded nine saves while adding three groundballs.
• As a team, the Spartans were 7-8 on free position attempts, while holding the Golden Bears to 2-7.

Up Next: Tampa will be back in action tomorrow as they host North Greenville University. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
