
Spartans Suffer a Heartbreak in Overtime As They Fall to No. 12
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa Spartans women's lacrosse team returned home for a matchup against Regis.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter: The Spartans found the back of the net early, with Cece Colombo scoring the first goal of the game. Towards the halfway mark of the first quarter, the Rangers offense started to find the back of the net and gain a one goal lead. Just minutes after the Rangers gained the lead, Lizzie Pierpont scored for the Spartans to tie the game. The Spartans defense played very well in the first quarter, keeping the Rangers on their toes. With just over two minutes left, Gracie Colombo found the back of the net to get the Spartans in the lead. The goals for the Spartans were scored as follows:

Second Quarter: The Spartans offense continued rolling in the second quarter, with Cece Colombo scoring just minutes in once again. The Rangers were forced to call an early timeout to try and regroup after the Spartans offense became too much. With just over eight minutes left in the half, the Rangers cut the Spartans' lead to one goal. Julia Kolderman scored with just under two minutes in the half to build the Spartan lead to two goals. The Rangers came right back and scored, but the Spartans had an answer of their own. Sarah Hinkle scored a late goal and the Spartans went into the half with a two-goal lead. The Spartan goals headed into halftime were scored as follows:

Third Quarter: The third quarter opened up with a defensive battle between the two teams. The Spartans called a timeout with just under eleven minutes left in the quarter. Madison Birch found the back of the net first in this quarter, to build the Spartan lead to three goals. Late in the quarter, the Rangers cut into the Spartans lead, with a score of 8-7.

Fourth Quarter: The Rangers scored back to back goals early in the fourth quarter to take the lead from the Spartans. Cece Colombo found the back of the net once again to tie the game at 9. The game was tied at 10 goals with just over two minutes left to play. Regulation ended and the teams were tied at 10 headed into overtime. The Spartan goals for the fourth quarter were scored as follows:
