2022 SSC Women's Lacrosse Tournament Bracket Announced
MELBOURNE, Fla. - [WLAX Tournament Page] - The Sunshine State Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament opens with semifinal action on Thursday, April 28th. Higher seeds will host all three games in this year's tournament and broadcast them via the Sunshine State Conference Digital Network.
After winning the program's third regular-season championship, the University of Tampa claims the No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament. The Spartans finished 6-1 to secure the program's first outright title after sharing the trophy in 2019 and 2021. Florida Southern College finished 5-2 in league play and is awarded the No. 2 seed. Rollins lands at No. 3, and Saint Leo is No. 4 following tiebreakers.
Tampa will host Saint Leo in the semifinal round. The Spartans bested the Lions, 20-8, on April 2nd in Tampa. This year marks the first meeting between Tampa and Saint Leo in the conference tournament.
Florida Southern hosts Rollins in this year's first round. The Tars won the only meeting between the two squads this year, 16-11, in Winter Park on April 9th. The Moccasins own a 2-1 advantage over RC in the SSC tournament. FSC defeated RC in the 2016 title game and the 2018 semifinals. Rollins won the first meeting of the programs in the tournament, which came in the 2015 title game.
From 2016 to 2019 at least two teams represented the SSC in the yearly national tournament. Florida Southern won the national title in 2016 and finished as national runner-up in 2017 and 2019. The 2020 NCAA and SSC tournaments were cancled due to COVID-19.
