
No.5 Spartans Slither by No.4 Mocs in Top Five Matchup at Home
TAMPA, FL. – The No. 5 University of Tampa women's lacrosse team slithers past No.4 Florida Southern in an intense matchup at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Quarter: The game opened with Mocs taking the first shot but it was saved by Alex Walling. The Spartans comes down the field and finds the back of the net early with a goal by Allie Peebles, assisted by Olivia Mott. The Mocs didn't wait too long until they put their first points on the board. From there, it was back and forth for the first four goals of the afternoon. This didn't stop the Spartans though, as they took a three-point lead to close out the first. The goals for the Spartans were scored as follows:

Second Quarter: The second quarter started with the Mocs scoring first. Once the Spartans set off their offense, they were quick to put the ball in the net. The Mocs aren't done yet as they cut the Spartan's lead to two. The Spartan's defense put pressure on the Mocs as they were forced to take a timeout. The Mocs sneak a goal in as they attempted to brew up some momentum scoring another goal with 3:14 left in the quarter. The Spartans didn't let this momentum simmer for long as they scored with a little under a minute left in the quarter regaining their two-point lead. The Spartan goals headed into halftime were scored as follows:

Third Quarter: Coming out of halftime, the Mocs opened the scoring again tying the game at 10 causing the Spartans to take a timeout. The Spartans regain their energy with a goal by Julia Kolderman. The Mocs weren't letting up easily, as they tied the game again at 11. The Spartans close out the game with a goal by Peebles that yet again ties the game at 12. The Spartan's goals were scored as follows:

Fourth Quarter: The last quarter begins with Tampa getting on the board first. The fourth quarter is intense as each team looks to gain a lead. The Mocs respond to the Spartan's goal with one of their own tying the game at 13. From there, the Spartans got the upper hand scoring two goals to put them up by one with seven minutes left in the game. The Spartans maintained their lead, playing high-quality defense, and slithered their way past the No.4 team in the country. The Spartan goals for the fourth quarter were scored as follows:
