Tampa Ranked No. 3 in Latest Poll Following SSC Tournament Championship Victory
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - The University of Tampa lacrosse team is ranked No. 3 in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Poll. This is the third week straight that the Spartans are ranked as the No. 3 team in the nation. After repeating as the Sunshine State Conference regular season champions a week ago, the Spartans just recently pulled off the largest comeback in program history to defeat Florida Southern in the SSC Championship.
As most teams concluded their regular seasons this weekend, the top three teams stayed put, with No. 1 West Chester earning 12 first-place votes and No. 2 Pace earning six.
Florida Southern dropped two spots into the No. 6 position, after losing their season finale to No. 3 Tampa, 17-16 on Sunday. As a result of the Mocs' movement, UIndy, and Le Moyne bumped ahead into the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
The ILWomen/IWLCA Poll will be unveiled Mondays throughout the season. It is voted on jointly by coaches throughout the country and members of the media.
