
Coach Gallagher Seeks 100 Career Wins, Tampa Hopes to Continue Dominance on Road in Highly Touted Matchup
LAKELAND, Fla. - The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is set for a highly touted matchup versus Florida Southern away from home.
The Matchup: No. 5 University of Tampa (8-2, 1-0 SSC) vs. No. 7 Florida Southern (8-3, 1-0 SSC)

About the Spartans: The Spartans took two of three matchups last season over the Mocs. Tampa won the first two matchups versus Florida Southern last season, however, the Mocs defeated the Spartans at Naimoli in the NCAA Quarterfinals to advance in the NCAA Tournament ultimately ending Tampa's season. The Spartans are off to a hot start this season and are ranked as the fifth-best team in the nation. UT is 1-0 in the Sunshine State Conference after defeating Palm Beach Atlantic at home this past Saturday by a score of 24-10. Gracie Colombo netted a career-best seven goals in the win and also added two assists. UT has scored 20-plus goals in five of its 10 games thus far and hopes to keep its high-flying offense going when they face off against the Mocs. The Spartans have been road warriors this season, sporting an impressive 5-1 record away from Naimoli, and will look to extend its current winning streak to seven games.
About the Mocs: The Mocs own the all-time series history over the Spartans, however have lost two of the last three times they've played Tampa. Florida Southern is 8-3 overall this season and is currently 1-0 in SSC play. The Mocs are ranked No. 7 in the country by the IWLCA and are coming off a dominant home win over Saint Leo. FSC is led by graduate students, Jackie Stoller and Madison Tare. Stoller leads the team in goals (44) and is second in the SSC for points (71). Teammate, Madison Tare is second on the team in goals (38) and points (44). The Mocs will look to extend its winning streak to five games when they host the Spartans in what is a highly anticipated matchup.
