Wrisk and Walling Tabbed IWLCA Players of the Week
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Sophi Wrisk and Alex Walling have been selected as IWLCA Players of the Week for their performances at the NCAA Championships.
Both Wrisk and Walling helped Tampa secure the programs first ever title this past week in Winter Park, Florida. Wrisk, a junior from Baltimore, Maryland scored seven goals while at the championships including five in the final. Walling, a graduate student out of San Diego, California totaled 14 saves at the championships. Wrisk picks earns National POTW honors for the second time this season and Walling garners these accolades for the third time this season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Sophi Wrisk – University of Tampa
Wrisk led the Tampa offense to its first National Title in program history behind a five-goal, one-assist performance against Adelphi. She recorded 22 total goals over the last six games and seven while at the championships. Wrisk was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player as well. Tampa's National title earned them a No. 1 ranking in the final ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Poll to conclude the 2024 season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Walling – University of Tampa
In 60 minutes, Walling made six crucial saves on 14 shots that would lead the Spartans to a National title over Adelphi. Walling's performance earned her a spot on the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team as well.
