
Wrisk Earns 100th Career Point as Tampa Puts On Dominant Road Display
WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 1 ranked University of Tampa women's lacrosse team started off the season with a dominant non-conference win on the road over Rollins.
FIRST QUARTER
Today's game marked the 16th meeting between the two programs and the Spartans were able to notch another win in the series. Junior Jenna Myhal gained momentum for Tampa by netting the first goal of the year to tie the game up at one apiece. Senior Sophi Wrisk followed suit as she scored from the free position spot less than a minute later. With the goal, Wrisk tallied 100 career points. The Spartans delivered a dominant performance in the first quarter, racking up seven more goals, including four from Loyola transfer, Sarah Engle. She became the first Spartan of the 2025 campaign to earn a hat trick. End of Q1 | 9-2 Tampa
SECOND QUARTER
The Tars and Spartans played a contested back-and-forth second quarter with the two trading possessions for the opening minutes until Rollins scored a man-down goal. This did not deter Tampa as thirty seconds later, USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Player of the Year, Peyton Howell notched her first goal of the season. Game leading scorer, Engle would build on her performance by netting her fifth with 10:45 left in the second. Returning midfielders, Wrisk and Myhal would also join the hat trick club, each netting two goals. After some more back-and-forth play, Mekelsey Montgomery would put the Spartans up 16-6 before heading into the half. End of Q2 | 16-6 Tampa
THIRD QUARTER
Tampa defender Isabella Avila would open up the scoring in the third, netting her third career goal. Tampa would go on a 5-0 run behind Wrisk, Howell, and Engle to give the Spartans a cushioned 22-7 lead to close out the quarter. Howell would become the fourth Spartan of the day to earn a hat trick. Isabel McGarvey set a career-high as she became the game leader in assists (3). End of Q3 | 22-7 Tampa
FOURTH QUARTER
Tampa would keep up the intensity in the fourth with McGarvey finding Montgomery to score a man-up goal. Wrisk, Howell, and Engle followed by netting a goal each to wrap up the game. Final | 26-9 Tampa
