Tampa Claims Top Spot in USA Lacrosse Magazine Rankings

TAMPA, Fla. - The USA Lacrosse Magazine preseason favorite, Tampa, stays at No.1 in the poll's first weekly release of the year.

The Spartans started the season sharp after defeating Rollins away from home in a non-conference game. Sarah Engle's record-setting day helped propel Tampa to a 26-9 victory, the largest margin of victory for the program in the series versus the Tars. Head coach Kelly Gallagher and her staff have now won the last six season openers and evened the all-time series versus the Tars.

The Spartans were just tabbed No. 1 in the first edition of the IWLCA poll and are slated for a tough road test this Saturday against No. 8 Maryville.
