
Spartans Head To The Volunteer State To Take On Railsplitters
HARROGATE, Tenn. - The No. 1 ranked Spartans are set to visit Lincoln Memorial University for the second-ever matchup between the programs.
The Matchup: No. 1 University of Tampa (3-0, 0-0 SSC) vs. Lincoln Memorial (3-1, 0-0 SAC)

Series History: The only meeting between the programs came two seasons ago when the Railsplitters came down Tampa way and left with an 18-4 loss.
About the Spartans: The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team has solidified their No. 1 spot in the IWLCA poll for the third consecutive week. The Spartan's dominance was on full display in their victory over No. 3 Adelphi. Leading the offensive charge was Sarah Engle, who was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after netting six goals against Adelphi. Engle continues to lead the SSC in goals and points per game. Senior Lexi Waters also received recognition for her performance, being named the SSC Defensive Player of the Week, recording a career-high four caused turnovers, four ground balls, and contributing offensively with a goal and an assist. The Spartans' offensive unit is firing on all cylinders, averaging 20 goals and 27.67 points per game, which ranks first and second in the SSC, respectively. Additionally, their 26 ground balls against Adelphi set a season-high mark across all SSC contests to date.
About the Railsplitters: The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team is 3-1 on the season thus far, after being voted 7th in the SAC coaches preseason poll. After recording 9 goals against North Greenville University, Junior Josie Tinnerello, was named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, for the second time this season, as well as the IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week. Tinnerello was joined by teammate and IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week, Keegan Gillman, who had 10 saves while in goal in the same game. Also resulting from their win over North Greenville, Head Coach Alyssa Shaver now holds the most wins at the program's helm with 33.
