University of Tampa Women’s Lacrosse Secures No. 1 Spot in USA Lacrosse Magazine's National Rankings
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is ranked No. 1 in the country in USA Lacrosse Magazine's Week 3 rankings. This ranking comes as no surprise, as the Spartans have netted 60 goals this season and won their games by an average of just under 12 goals, including their decisive 20-6 victory over No. 3 Adelphi.
The Sunshine State Conference is represented by an impressive five teams this week: No. 1 Tampa, No. 2 Florida Southern, No. 8 Embry-Riddle, No. 9 Lynn, and No. 10 Saint Leo. These teams start the week with a combined 17-1 record, including eight wins over ranked opponents. SSC rivals Lynn and Embry-Riddle are set to match up on Wednesday before Lynn visits No. 11 UIndy on Sunday.
The next ranked opponent the Spartans will face is the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds, who jumped up five spots this past week to No. 11. The game is scheduled for Thursday, March 13, at 11:00 a.m. Less than a week later, Tampa will host No. 3 Pace on March 16, followed by No. 2 Florida Southern on March 26 and No. 8 Embry-Riddle on March 29.
