Spartans Stay Seated on the Throne of USA Lacrosse Magazine's Rankings
TAMPA, Fla. – For the fifth consecutive week, and sixth overall, including the preseason, the University of Tampa women's lacrosse team remains at No. 1 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Rankings. This week's ranking comes as no surprise, as the Spartans dominated Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Tech in a non-conference matchup, netting 20 goals against a Panthers squad that has received consideration in the rankings for the past month.
The Sunshine State Conference's dominance is once again on full display, with all five previously top-10-ranked teams now sitting inside the top 8: No. 1 Tampa, No. 2 Florida Southern, No. 6 Lynn, No. 7 Embry-Riddle, and No. 8 Saint Leo. The SSC powerhouses all went undefeated last week, pushing their combined record to 30-2, with Tampa, Florida Southern, and Lynn still boasting perfect 6-0 records.
The Spartans now prepare for a true test in defending their national championship and No. 1 ranking as they host No. 10 Indianapolis this week, followed by a brutal stretch against No. 3 Pace, No. 2 Florida Southern, and No. 7 Embry-Riddle—all before April 1.
