Series History: Rollins and Tampa are currently tied 8-8 in the all-time series. However, the Spartans have won seven of the last eight matchups, including a dominating 26-9 victory to kick off the 2025 season. That win marks the second-most goals scored in an SSC contest this year, second only to Tampa's 27-goal outing at Lincoln Memorial.
About the Spartans: After a remarkable 21-game winning streak spanning exactly 365 days, the defending national champions suffered their first loss of the season in an overtime thriller against No. 7 Embry-Riddle. Despite the result, Peyton Howell stood out, recording her sixth game this season with 5 or more goals and posting a career-high 9 points, including 4 assists. On the defensive end, Savvy Barbosa added 7 more saves, raising her season save percentage to .461—second in the conference—while maintaining a conference-best goals-against average of 7.28. The Spartans dropped to No. 2 in the latest IWLCA rankings, trailing only West Chester nationally, but remain the highest-ranked Sunshine State Conference team among the seven represented in the poll.
About the Tars: Despite a 7-4 record, Rollins has been nationally ranked in every IWLCA poll this season, reaching as high as No. 13 last week. The Tars are currently on a two-game losing streak, with both defeats coming in SSC play—first, a double-overtime loss to No. 7 Embry-Riddle, followed by another one-goal setback to No. 22 Florida Tech. Rollins hosted Tampa to begin the 2025 season, falling to the Spartans by 17 goals, the largest margin of defeat in series history.
