
Women's Lacrosse Looks to Extend Streak Over No. 20 Florida Tech
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team, currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, continues Sunshine State Conference play this weekend with a road matchup against No. 20 Florida Tech.
The Matchup: No. 2 University of Tampa (11-1, 2-1 SSC) vs. No. 20 Florida Tech (6-7, 2-1 SSC)

Series History: Although Tampa holds a 6-5 edge in the all-time series against Florida Tech, the Spartans have dominated recent matchups with six consecutive wins since the 2019 season. About the Spartans: The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team quickly returned to the win column with a 15-5 victory over No. 15 Rollins. Savvy Barbosa set a new career high as a Spartan with 12 saves on 17 shots faced. The performance propelled her to the top of the Sunshine State Conference as the only goalkeeper with a save percentage above .500, while her goals-against average remains the conference best at 6.94. On the offensive end, Peyton Howell found the back of the net six times against the Tars, marking the seventh time in her last eight games that the Towson, Maryland native has scored five or more goals.
