Howell Nets 7 Goals as No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Pushes Past No. 20 Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The No. 2 ranked University of Tampa women's lacrosse team etched out a win against conference opponent Florida Tech Panthers in a Saturday matchup at Rick Stottler Field.

Tampa rounds out their tough top-25 packed schedule of games with a 13-9 win over No. 20 Florida Tech. Tampa has gone 9-1 in top-25 ranked matches this season. 

How It Happened

  • The Spartans took the first two goals of the game as Mary Kate Person and Peyton Howell found the back of the net.
  • Isabel McGarvey would also find the net late in the first frame of play as she would score an unassisted goal.
  • Audrey Wisdom came up big for the Spartans as she would score and assist on a goal in the first half.
  • Howell would go on to score all four of Tampa's third quarter goals as she found the net four more times – on her way to seven on the day, leading all scorers.
  • Tampa would outscore the Panthers in the first three quarters until the two programs tied in the final frame, each scoring two.
  • Isabella Avila would secure 11 draw controls, leading the statistic in the game. She would also force one caused turnover and scoop a groundball to add to her day.
  • Seven different Spartans would find the back of the net.
