
Barbosa and Howell Named IWLCA Player of the Week
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The IWLCA has chosen six student-athletes for the IWLCA Player of the Week awards for the week ending May 25, 2025. This weekly award recognizes the best offensive and defensive performances by players in Division I, II, and III during the postseason.
In the final week of the 2025 season, the IWLCA has selected Peyton Howell and Savvy Barbosa as Players of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Peyton Howell – University of Tampa
Howell was instrumental in Tampa's run to the NCAA Division II National Championship, earning Most Outstanding Player honors for the tournament. She led the Spartans with back-to-back standout performances, starting with a game-high four goals and an assist in the semifinal win over Indianapolis. Howell kept the momentum going in the title game against Adelphi, adding another game-high four goals to secure the championship for Tampa.
Defensive Player of the Week
Savvy Barbosa – University of Tampa
Barbosa was a dominant presence in goal, anchoring Tampa's defense en route to the NCAA Division II National Championship. In the semifinal win over UIndy, Barbosa added nine saves, two caused turnovers, and two ground balls in a well-rounded defensive effort. In the title game against Adelphi, she tallied 15 saves on 24 shots, including four clutch stops in the final quarter to preserve the Spartans' lead. Her outstanding performances earned her a spot on the NCAA All-Tournament Team.
