Spartans Take Second Place In Novice Race At SSC Championships

FELLSMERE, Fla. - The University of Tampa rowing team turned in a second place performance in the women's novice 4+ race at the 2010 Sunshine State Conference championships on Saturday. The annual event was hosted by Rollins College at Canal 54.

Tampa finished the race with a time of 9:05.4. Florida Tech won as Barry University medaled as the third-place team. Barry won the overall team championship.

The Spartan novice boat consisted of Pollyanna Palhano, Chelsea Michelson, Brianna Vaughan and Allison Rolfe. The coxswain was Melissa Ciesielski.

Tampa has one competition remaining on the schedule as it will compete at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 7-8. The event will take place in Philadelphia.
