Spartan Rowing Opens Spring Season at Mayors Cup

TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa rowing team opened its spring competition at the 2012 Tampa Mayors Cup, competing in four events.

The Spartans finished second in the Women's Collegiate 2- (6:23.23) as Brianna Vaughan and Megan Richardson made up the Spartan team.

UT also placed fourth in Women's Collegiate Frosh/Novice 8+ (6:21.52) that was coxswained by Carley Donovan and rowed by Kristin Anderson, Sarah Collins, Kaitlyn Goff, Jessika Guerard, Teresa Hilbig, Breanne Smith, Allison Swank, and Erica Zerilli.

Tampa was also fourth in the Women's Collegiate Varsity/Open 8+ (5:49.02) and fourth in the Women's Collegiate Varsity/Open 4+ (6:14.85). It was coxswained by Melanie Hindley and rowed by Melissa Ciesielski, Pollyanna Palhano, Mary Gibson, and Cecily Wood.

The Novice Open-weights was coxswained by Carley Donovan, and is rowed by Kristin Anderson, Kaitlyn Goff, Jessika Guerard, and Erica Zerilli. The Novice Lightweights were coxswained by Melanie Hindley and was rowed by Mary Lee Gibson, Cecily Wood, Kiera Fox, and Breanne Smith.

UT will return to action on March 24 at the John Hunter Regatta in Atlanta.
