Spartan Rowers Finish Fourth at FIRA

SARASOTA, Fla. - The University of Tampa rowing team enjoyed a fourth-place effort at the Florida Intercollegiate Rowing Association (FIRA) Championships at Nathan Benderson Park.

The Spartans ended competition with 19 points, finishing behind champion Nova Southeastern. Florida was second as Stetson placed third. UT edged Florida State and Florida Tech.

Tampa took first in the women's F/N lightweight 4+, posting a time of 8:49.3. The Spartans were also second in the varsity lightweight 4+ (9"08.3) and the women's 1x (9:57.9).

UT's women also rowed the F/N 4+ (5th, 9:17.8), women's 2 (3rd, 8:46.3), F/N 8+ (6th, 9:03.0) and the women's 2- (5th, 9:34.0).

Tampa returns to action on April 21-22 at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
