Tampa Rowing Finds Success at Mayors Cup
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa rowing team opened its spring season at the annual Mayors Cup at the Tampa Bypass Canal, winning a total of four races.
UT's women's novice 8 B team placed first, finishing ahead of South Florida with a time of 6:00.73. The winning team was made up of Rachel Kulig, Amelia Herschede, Briana Colon, Stephanie Pascual, Jill Crandall, Meghan Girouard, Mary Grace Duethman, Stephanie Brouwer and Alex Ferrer.
The women's varsity 4 B team defeated Florida State for a first-place finish. The Spartans winning time was 6:20.80.
A pair of first-place finishes were also registered by Tampa in the women's novice 4 A and B races. The times were 6:16.35 and 6:50.96. The novice 4 A included Jill Crandall, Meghan Girouard, Mary Grace Duethman, Stephanie Brouwer and Alex Ferrer. The B team included Rebecca Bross, Amelia Herschede, Briana Colon, Stephanie Pascual and Nicole Maslowas
Tampa also finished second in the women's 2 (6:50.97) and women's varsity 4 (6:25.62).
The Spartans are back in action on March 29 at the John Hunter Regatta in Gainesville, Ga.
