Tampa Rows at SIRA Regatta
Spartans participate in final race before SSC Championships.
OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The University of Tampa rowing team was in action over the weekend at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships.
The women's varsity double placed second out of 15 boats with a time of 8:29.9. The Spartan rowers were Abbie Heupel and Hanna Vernetti.
The women's varsity pair finished fourth out of 15 boats with a time of 8:58.9. Rowers were Bridget Maxwell and Maddie Davidoff.
Tampa's novice 8+ placed seventh of 18 boats with a time of 7:48.6. Rowers were Abbey Grau, Kiara Williams, Emily Moreira, Gianna Wyman, Erin Hanson, Sam Schnupp, Kali Trimmer and Erin Martin. The coxswain was Amanda Lavoie.
The women's varsity 4+ placed 10th out of 11 boats with a time of 8:33.5. Rowers were Danielle Menchen, Sam Stewart, Marissa Henderson, Brooke Rogers and coxswain was Maxie-Lew Dunn. This was a lightweight boat that competed in an open weight category for UT.
The Spartans return to action on Friday at the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championships in Sarasota, Fla.
