
Spartans Win Varsity 4, Place Second at 2023 SSC Championships
SARASOTA, Fla. - The University of Tampa served as the host institution for the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Rowing Championships, winning the Varsity 4 to place as the runner-up at the championships to Embry-Riddle University.
Tampa began the championships as the first of four teams to finish the Varsity 4. The Spartans were timed at 7:45.2, winning by just over five seconds of Embry-Riddle. The championship team included Eliana Maheo, Anna McSwain, Jessica Mason, Mia Lawrence and coxswain Anne Buller.
Embry-Riddle would take the next race, which sealed the conference championship for the Eagles. The Varsity 8 championship carried a winning time of 6:48.8 from Kristen Vigna, Veronika Zorazil, Ally Weilert, Elise Dezotell, Sofia Lorenzini, Soleil Edwards, Kendra Sander, Shelby Ernst and Megan Byrne.
