UT Wins Varsity 4 to Earn Runner-Up at SSC Championships
SARASOTA, Fla. - For the third consecutive season, No. 2 Embry-Riddle women's rowing has won the Sunshine State Conference Championship at Nathan Benderson Park. The University of Tampa won the event's first race, finishing as the overall runner-up.
Tampa took first place in the varsity fours. The Spartans time of 7:44.8 was exactly three seconds ahead of Embry-Riddle's boat.
The Eagles won the varsity eights final for the third year in a row. Their boat finished in 6:56.8, 7.5 seconds ahead of second-place Rollins.
The win in the varsity eights was worth 15 points, while second place in the varsity fours counted for eight points. This gave ERAU 23 points, four points ahead of Tampa who finished second place. Following Tampa was Rollins (16 points), Barry (nine points) and Nova Southeastern (eight points).
The Spartans had three all-conference honorees, with Anna McSwain and Eliana Maheo being named All-Sunshine State Conference. Katie D'Amico was named to the SSC All-Freshman/Novice team.
