Kuni Hat Trick Leads Tampa Offensive Assault Over Florida Tech

Tampa, Fla. - The eighth-ranked University of Tampa women's soccer team battled for 20-minutes before scoring its first of six goals to record a 6-1 victory over Florida Tech in a matchup of Sunshine State Conference teams. The Spartans improve to 8-1 on the season and 3-0 in the SSC.
Shelby Kuni recorded her third hat trick of the season and led off the scoring attack with a penalty kick goal at 20:50. The Spartans added another first-half goal from Malana Winskas to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Alison Penland and Katie Callahan were credited with assists on the score.
Florida Tech cut the Spartan lead in half with a goal at 49:38 before Jocelyn Charette scored to extend the Tampa lead to 3-1. Samantha Robinson and Kuni recorded assists on the goal that was played by Kuni and scored on a nice pass by Robinson. Kuni added the next two Tampa goals, one of which was unassisted and the other was via Nicole Murphy. The Spartans locked up the 6-1 victory with a Shannon Agnew goal from Marissa Mohammed.
Tampa outshot Florida Tech 16-5, recording eight shots in each half. Shannon Aitken received the victory as the goalkeeper made one save on the afternoon.
The Spartans, who now have a 26-match unbeaten streak at Pepin Stadium, travel to West Florida on Friday, September 29, at 5:00 pm.
