Third-Ranked Spartans Cruise To Fourth Straight Shutout

Tampa, Fla. - The dominance of the third-ranked University of Tampa women's soccer team continued as it defeated 23rd-ranked Rollins by a score of 3-0. The fourth straight shutout improves the Spartans to 12-1 on the season and 5-0 in the Sunshine State Conference. Tampa also extended its school-record 29 game home unbeaten streak while winning its ninth consecutive game, which is also a school record.
The duo of Jocelyn Charette and Shelby Kuni led the way once again as the pair combined for all three goals and two assists. Charette scored first, at 20:02, on a touch pass from Kuni that she put into the low right corner. Kuni added the second goal of the first half off a cross from Samantha Robinson. Charette was also credited with an assist on Kuni's goal, which was her 18th of the season as she moved within three goals of Tai Kirklin's school record.
Charette added the third goal of the game at the 55:19 mark as Robinson and Katie Callahan recorded assists. Shannon Aitken started in goal for Tampa and recorded her fourth consecutive shutout and the seventh of the season for the junior from Land O'Lakes. Aitken's school record for career shutouts was also extended to 22.
The Spartans travel to Barry on Friday for a 7:00 pm showdown with the Buccaneers on a two-game swing to the Miami area that is concluded with a Sunday afternoon meeting with Lynn. The matchup with the Knights is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
