Spartans Place Three on All-Region Team

TAMPA, Fla. - On the verge of beginning its NCAA postseason play, The University of Tampa women's soccer team had three players named to the 2007 Daktronics All-South Region team. Courtney Evans earned a spot on the first team while Shannon Aitken and Nicole Murphy were represented on the second team.

Evans, a midfielder from DeLand, Fla., currently ranks first on the team with 12 assists as her 18 points rank third for UT. The first-team all-SSC selection has started all 20 matches for the 16-2-2 Spartans, tallying four multi-assist performances.

Aitken, a goalkeeper from Land O'Lakes, has compiled a 0.63 GAA with 16 wins this season. UT's all-time leader in win and shutouts has also registered 11 shutouts as a senior. Murphy, a senior defender from Lafayette, La., has recorded a pair of goals and assists while starting all 20 games for a Tampa defense that has held its opponents to just 13 goals in 20 matches.

The Spartans will open NCAA play on Sunday as they host the winner of Friday's Nova Southeastern and Ouachita Baptist match. Sunday's game is scheduled for 1 p.m., at Pepin Stadium.
