Saige Steinmetz Signs NLI to Play Women’s Soccer at UT
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa has announced the signing of Saige Steinmetz to a National Letter of Intent to play women's soccer for the defending national champions. Steinmetz will enroll and be eligible to play for UT in the Fall of 2008.
Steinmetz, a sophomore who comes to UT from Catonsville (Md.) Community College, hails from East Greenville, Pa. She was most recently a team captain on the 2007 Junior College National Championship team. Steinmetz was also a 2007 NSCAA All-American and was named to the national championship all-tournament team. Steinmetz also played her youth soccer with a number of Pennsylvania clubs, including Bucks Mont United.
"We are delighted to have Saige become a member of the UT family," says head coach Gerry Lucey. "Saige will bring experience, pace and a physical presence to our lineup. She is also strong in the air and a threat on the attacking end. She is a very determined young woman and will add a new dimension to our game. Saige is a fast, physically strong left sided defender that possesses an equally strong right and left foot."
