MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - The University of Tampa (7-3, 3-0 SSC) women's soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over Barry University (6-5-1, 1-3-1 SSC), marking its third straight shutout.
Freshman goalkeeper Kendall Bourdon remained sharp in goal, registering her third straight shutout. All three have come against SSC opponents including Saint Leo, Nova Southeastern and now Barry. Bourdon finished the contest with seven saves, while facing 19 shots in 90 minutes of play.
The game-winner by Brittan Spence came at the 47:39 mark when she knocked home a deflection from 25 yards out. Brittney Evans was credited with the assist on the lone score of the contest. In the previous two games, Evans has now accounted for a game-winning goal and assist as her team has posted consecutive 1-0 triumphs.
Both teams stayed on the offensive throughout the contest as Barry tallied 19 shots while Tampa had 14. The Spartans did carry an advantage in shots on goal, 9-7. The Buccaneers were forced to play the final 19:11 without a player as Emily Bourgoine was issued a red card.
The Spartans will now await a Sunday afternoon meeting with #20 Lynn University in Boca Raton. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
