COLUMBUS, Ga. - The University of Tampa (0-2-1) women's soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss to Tusculum College (2-1) at the Columbus State Tournament as all five goals came in the first half.
The Pioneers took a quick lead as Kayla Durden scored the first goal of the match less than two minutes into the match. Tusculum stretched its lead to 2-0 as Tramicka Jones found the net in the 13th minute.
UT then responded with a pair of goals to knot the score at 2-2 as Jazmin Perry scored the Spartans' first goal at 16:08. The unassisted goal came as a result of a successful one-on-one between Perry and TC keeper Rachael Jennings. Saige Steinmetz scored Tampa's second goal from Megan Tobin in the 25th minute.
Tusculum then secured the game-winner at 38:47 as Claire Duncan capitalized on a penalty kick. The second half was scoreless though UT held a 5-2 shots advantage.
Kendall Bourdon started in goal for Tampa and made five saves in the first half. Steinmetz shifted to goal in the second half.
