MELBOURNE, Fla. - The University of Tampa (6-10-1, 2-5 SSC) women's soccer team was defeated by No. 17 Florida Tech (13-2, 6-1 SSC) as the Panthers took a 3-0 victory in Sunshine State Conference action.
FIT got on the board with its first goal at 1:56, from Dee Dee Newland. The Panthers later added goals from Paula Lillsjo (44:40) and Jennifer Gillette (68:45).
After being outshot by a 12-6 margin in the first half, the Spartans rebounded to outshoot Florida Tech 9-6 in the second. The Spartans also earned more corners than the Panthers by a 4-1 mark.
Kendall Bourdon started in goal for the Spartans and recorded a career high eight saves while facing 16 shots in 90 minutes of action.
