
UT Women’s Soccer Set To Entertain Pair Of Opponents
TAMPA, Fla.- The University of Tampa (2-2) women's soccer team takes the field at Pepin Stadium for a pair of matches starting Friday at 7 p.m against the Valdosta State University Blazers (4-0). On Sunday at 10 a.m., the Spartans will host the Georgia College Bobcats (1-3).
Tampa will be playing Valdosta State for the first time ever on Friday. The Spartans are coming off wins against Mercy College and Webber International University. Freshman midfielder Jenny Karl recorded a hat trick in both games leading all Spartans in goal-scoring.
Gabby Russo, a freshman midfielder scored two goals and five assists in the two games. Other notable scorers in the last two games were: sophomore Carolyn Simon with four goals freshman Lauren Moore with two goals and senior Jazmin Perry with three goals.
UT outshot its opponents 61-7 in the two wins at home. In the win over WIU, UT scored a school-record 11 goals.
VSU is in its first year in its women's soccer program. They have outscored their opponents 12-1 in four games. Freshman Rebecca Miller leads all Blazers scorers with two goals and two assists.
UT is 1-0 all-time against Georgia College, beating them in their first matchup in 2009. Georgia College has been outscored 5-3 in its first four games. Sophomore Brittaney Borror leads all Bobcats scorers with one goal and one assist.
