UT Women’s Soccer Set To Host Lynn
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (6-3-1, 0-1 SSC) women's soccer team takes the field at Pepin Stadium for a Thursday evening match at 7:00 p.m., against the Lynn University Fighting Knights (6-3-1, 1-2 SSC). This match will be UT's Sunshine State Conference home opener.
Tampa is 9-4-1 all-time against Lynn, beating the Fighting Knights 2-0 last season on the road. The Spartans have won six straight over the Knights and seven of the last eight.
Jazmin Perry, a senior forward, leads all Spartans with eight goals and 14 shots, including two game winners. Other notable scorers this season are: freshman Jenny Karl with six goals, senior Brittan Spence with five goals and Sophomore Carolyn Simon with five goals.
UT Freshman Emelie Karstrom goaltender leads the team with two shutouts. UT has allowed one-or-less goals in eight games this season.
UT has outscored its opponents 33-9 so far this season. UT is coming off of a 1-1 draw against Armstrong Atlantic State University. However, UT was outshot in the game 14-10.
Lynn has outshot its opponents 147-89 this season. Senior forward Melissa Ortiz leads all Knights in scoring with seven goals, two assists and 35 shots. Another bright spot for the Knights is freshman midfielder Lina Forsman. Forsman has scored four goals and one assist.
Ortiz has provided the Knights with three game winners. Lynn started the season off 4-0-1, but has drop three of its last five games.
Tickets will be available at the gate for $5 (adults) and $3 (children and senior citizens). UT students will be admitted for free with a valid student ID.
