Shannon Walisch Awarded SSC Defensive Honor

ORLANDO, Fla. - University of Tampa women's soccer player Shannon Walisch has been selected the Sunshine State Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending October 16.

Walisch, a sophomore defender from Palm Harbor, Fla., helped the Spartans go 2-0-1 with a pair of shutouts against three SSC opponents. Walisch and the Tampa defense began the week by holding No. 19 Florida Tech to just one shot on goal in a scoreless tie on the road. The defensive unit replicated the performance in a 3-0 win over Florida Southern, holding the Mocs to a single shot on frame. The squad concluded the busy week by holding Barry to just three shots on goal in a 3-1 victory.
