Spartans Tie Most Consecutive Wins Record in Victory Over Tritons

TAMPA, Fla.-The No. 4 University of Tampa women's soccer team overcame Eckerd College by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday night at Pepin Stadium.
The Spartans improve to 10-0, a school record for consecutive wins, while the Tritons fall to 5-3 for the season.
A fast break by Shannon Walisch and a pass to Cici Gonzalez gave Tampa the early lead in the 14th minute of the match. However, Eckerd soon got on the board with a penalty shot by Taylor Tippett in the 17th minute.
The Spartans dominated the first half outshooting the Tritons 16-3. Keeper Alyson Gregorowicz snatched two saves to begin the game.
The tied game continued throughout the second half until the 88th minute of play. Freshman Paige Smith roped a pass through a cluster of Tritons to Candice Shields for the game winning goal.
The Spartans stout defense held the Tritons to single digit shots only allowing eight for the game.
