Alyson Gregorowicz: Determined to Make it to the Top
Senior Alyson Gregorowicz is in her final season as a Tampa Spartan on the women's soccer team. Born and raised in Lorton, Va., Gregorowicz has always had a passion for sports. Ever since she was young, the athletic world has always been part of her life.
Gregorowicz did not limit herself, and whatever sport she was able to play, she played. Gregorowicz participated in dance, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, basketball, and, of course, soccer. Her love of soccer continued on all throughout her life and continues here at the University of Tampa.
Beyond the field, Gregorowicz is a hard-working full-time student. Even though she is in her final season of soccer, Gregorowicz will be back for a fifth year of classes. Gregorowicz is majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education, and after she earns her degree, she plans to live in the Florida area for several years in order to teach. After that, Gregorowicz's plans are still up in the air, but she is just waiting to see where her path leads her and decide what she wants to do after she gets a couple years of teaching under her belt.
One thing that Gregorowicz is determined to accomplish in her final year is winning the national soccer championship. When asked about soccer, the passion and enthusiasm radiated through her responses. "The best decision I made at UT was to be apart of the women's soccer team," stated Gregorowicz, and anyone who watches Gregorowicz play and interact with her teammates can see that she is doing something that she is very passionate about.
Many factors implemented Gregorowicz's decision to attend and play soccer at UT. In a nutshell, Gregorowicz "loved everything about the school and the team." Gregorowicz expressed how she loves being down here at UT, and she has made some close relationships that have made time away from home much easier. The team is like a family for Gregorowicz, and she says that everyone gets along well and that there is great team chemistry which is not limited to just the soccer field. Gregorowicz and her team are confident that they have the talent to make it all the way.
Gregorowicz is one of the five seniors on the team, and she is also one of the four captains. Being a captain has taught her how to take on the role as a team leader, and she is doing her best to be the leader that the team needs. Gregorowicz and her team aspire to win the conference, the region, and the national championship all while maintaining a high team GPA.
Being on the soccer team has helped Gregorowicz to build a lot character over the years, and the team has shaped her into the person that she is today. She has made friends and memories that she will "keep close to her heart for the rest of her life." Through all the difficulties that the team has encountered over the years that Gregorowicz has been a part of, she still feels that "it has all been worth it."
The team is overcoming change, and so far they are succeeding, as they are one of the top teams in the nation. Gregorowicz continues doing what she loves representing #25 on the field. She has converted from defense to goalkeeper for the Spartans due to an injury to the starting keeper.
Gregorowicz has started in 47 games since her freshman year here at UT, and she has already tallied two goals for the season with seven shots on goal out 17 shots taken overall. Gregorowicz is a key component to the women's soccer team, and her passion for the game and determination to succeed is what drives her towards excellence. Gregorowicz will not stop until she reaches her goals and makes it to the top.
