Tampa Concludes 2013 Season in National Rankings
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its final rankings for the 2013 season, tabbing the University of Tampa at No. 19.
This marks the fourth time in school history where the Spartans have enjoyed a national top-25 ranking from start to finish, and the first since the national championship season of 2007. The other seasons were 2005 and 2006.
It also marks the fourth straight season where UT was listed in the final rankings, and ninth overall. Overall, Tampa has been nationally-ranked in 11 consecutive seasons, and 12 total since the program's inception in 1998.
Tampa concluded a 2013 season where it was 15-4-2, with an appearance in the NCAA South Regional semifinals. The Spartans outscored their opponents 57-17 on the season and notched 12 shutouts.
Head coach Gerry Lucey's squad spent a total of five weeks in the national top-10, including three in the top-five. UT has also been ranked for 15 consecutive installments.
