UT Moves Up To No. 12 In NSCAA Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The University of Tampa women's soccer team continues its reign in the national rankings as the Spartans are now listed at No. 12 in the nation according to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II rankings.
The Spartans are now 7-0-2 while outscoring their opponents 35-2. This past week, the Spartans tied with Florida Southern College 0-0 (2OT) and defeated Lynn University 3-1.
Junior Cici Gonzalez leads the Spartans with 10 goals and seven assists. Gonzalez is also the national leader in game winning goals, with six. Lauren Moore is also the national leader in assists (nine) and assists per game (1.00).
Defensively, freshman Caroline Frykgard is ranked second nationally in save percentage (.955). Frykgard has only allowed one goal in 719:35 minutes, while making 21 saves.
UT has now been ranked for 22 consecutive weeks. Additionally, UT has earned a mention in the poll in a total of 13 seasons, including 12 straight.
The Spartans head on the road Wednesday for a conference matchup against the Saint Leo University Lions. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
