The University of Tampa (10-2-2, 4-2 SSC) women's soccer team defeated Nova Southeastern University (4-6, 1-5 SSC) by a final score of 5-1 Saturday afternoon. The victory also marked the 150th career win for UT head coach Gerry Lucey.
Junior Cici Gonzalez opened up the scoring for the Spartans netting a goal in the 15th minute assisted by freshman Miranda Gonzalez.
Following up from her assist Miranda Gonzalez managed to score a goal in the 20th minute assisted by sophomore Kaley Ward.
Tampa remained on the attack and connected on two more goals in the first half from senior Gabby Russo and junior Amber Pennybaker.
The Spartans outshot the Sharks 14-2 in the first half.
Tampa started the half on the same foot with Cici Gonzalez scoring her second goal of the game in the 70th minute assisted by Gabby Russo.
In the 77th minute Nova Southeastern managed to score their first goal of the game from junior Sierra Lelii.
The Spartan offense was running on all cylinders with 14 shots on goal while the defense held equally strong allowing only four shots on goal for the day.
