ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Tampa Spartans women's soccer team traveled south to take on the Eckerd College Tritons Wednesday night and came out victorious by a score of 3-1.
In the first half, Tampa made the most of their opportunities early on outshooting scoring both of their goals on set piece plays. Finding the back of the net for the Spartans was Ali Robinson at the 4-minute mark and Lauren Moore at the 30-minute mark assisting on both plays was sophomore Miranda Gonzalez.
Action in the second half left off where the first ended as an offensive battle. UT controlled much of the possession in the period, but the Tritons refused to go quietly as the drew within one after a goal by Taylor Trippet at the 79-minute mark. However, the Spartans put the nail in the coffin as Korey O'Rourke netted the final blow in the 84th minute off a Hannah Watts pass ensuring the victory.
