Cady's Hat Trick Leads Spartans
The University of Tampa defeated Saint Leo 3-0 in the final regular season match of the year.
ST. LEO, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's soccer team completed the regular season with a dominant 3-0 victory over Saint Leo.

All-time Series: Tampa leads 21-4-3, the Spartans are unbeaten in the last five contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | Quinn Knapp had one of the best opportunities of the half when her shot clanked the post in the 27th minute. However, Tampa was awarded a free kick at mid-field in the 27th minute. Quinn Knapp served a lob into the 18 yard box, where Nastasia Asgedom dribbled past two defenders and threaded the ball to the foot of Emily Cady. Cady slotted a shot across the face of the goal-keeper and into the lower right corner to give UT a one goal advantage. The junior from East Lake, Florida logged her sixth goal of the season, which tied Moeko Morse for the team-lead.
2nd Half | The Spartans applied pressure throughout the second half and Cady completed her hat trick with goals in the 53rd and 62nd minute. Libby Wissman and Asgedom logged assists on both goals. Asgedom tallied an assist on all three goals, the first time in her career that she's accomplished this task. Megan Bromwell only saved one shot while Lovisa Camel came into the match for the final ten minutes. Saint Leo's Julia Ortiz accumulated six of her seven saves in the second half.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Spartans won five conference matches for the first time since 2015 when the team reached the NCAA South Regional Final.
- Asgedom assisted on three goals for the first time in her four-year career. She matched her season total with three assists this evening.
- Cady finished the regular season as the leader with eight goals, totaling 16 points which also leads the team.
UP NEXT: The University of Tampa will host the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Monday night, the opponent is yet to be determined. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
