Fighting Knights Shock Spartans in Overtime

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women's soccer team was defeated by Sunshine State Conference opponent Lynn University on senior night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

1st Half | Both teams started off the game at a steady pace. (15') Sunshine State Conference leading scorer Anniina Sankohas netted her 14^th goal this season past Spartans goalkeeper Megan Bromwell. (39') After a full first half battle, Tampa's freshman forward Jalyssa Richardson netted an impressive goal to tie the game. || Lynn, 1-0

2nd Half | (48') Forward Elena Barr almost broke the tie on a shot attempt that was called offsides by the line judge. (61') The Spartans defense had a crucial defensive save that kept the game knotted at 1 apiece. (58') Forward Elena Barr received another shot at breaking open the tie and this time she made the best of her opportunity, as she drilled home a goal past Knights goalie Devan Malcolm from an assist from Moeko Morse. (70') Fighting Knights sophomore Jessica Archer recorded her first career goal once again tying the game.  || Tied 2-2

1OT | (99') After a battle for the first 8 minutes of the extra period, Lynn netted the game-winning goal as Johanna Nilsson launched a missile past Tampa's goalie to give the Fighting Knights their 4^th win of the season.

Inside the Stats:

• Jalyssa Richardson scored her 3^rd goal of the season and 3^rd of her career.
• Megan Bromwell finished the game with 2 saves; giving her 45 on the season
• Elena Barr scored her 1^st goal of the season.
