
Megan Bromwell Earns Female Iron Spartan
TAMPA, Fla- The University of Tampa is proud to name senior women's soccer goalkeeper Megan Bromwell winner of the 2020-21 Iron Spartan Award, which is given annually to a male and female UT student-athlete.
This award recognizes the student-athlete who demonstrates intensity, focus, leadership, positive attitude and has shown improved athletic performance due to their consistency in the weight room. The areas that are noted, but not limited to, include using the weight room to improve on-court/field performance, observed improvements in strength/explosiveness as an athlete, and setting the tone/promoting the weight room to the team.
"Megan has taken tremendous strides in the weight room over the past couple years. Since recovering from major knee surgery three years ago, she has embodied the importance of strength training," says head coach Erin Switalski.
The Hamilton, N.J. native has appeared in 32 games for UT with 30 starts. Bromwell sports a 1.19 GAA with 100 total saves and a career .735 save percentage. As a junior, she was a member of the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and an SSC Defensive Player of the Week.
"Since fully recovering, Megan's passion for strength, conditioning, and nutrition has continued to grow. Megan's hard work in the weight room has directly translated into her ability to be successful on the field and stay healthy."
