
#25 Tampa Held Scoreless in Double Overtime Tie With Tigers
COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of Tampa Spartans women's soccer team relentless attack against the West Alabama Tigers yielded a scoreless tie after two overtime periods.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half: The Spartans had one quality scoring chance in the first. A shot from Katherine Hostage was saved by Tigers keeper Tabitha Weldon in the 12th minute. Tampa had three other shots in the half, two by Hostage (30' and 42') and one from Madison McElhone in the 44th minute. Score: 0-0 Tied
Second Half: Tampa poured on in the second, outshooting the Tigers 11-0. Hostage once more had another quality chance to give the Spartans a lead with a shot at the bottom left of the goal but was stopped again by Weldon. The only other quality chance again came from Hostage in the 85th minute. Brooke Steigerwalt, McElhone, Alex Steigelfest, Michelle Kanaskie, and Hannah Kirkpatrick all had shots in the half. Score: 0-0 Tie
First Overtime: The Spartans again held the Tigers to zero shots in the first overtime period. Tampa outshot the Tigers 3-0 with one quality chance coming from Elena Barr in the 95th minute. Hostage and Gabby Desautels each had one shot apiece. Score: 0-0 Tie
Second Overtime: Barr was the only player in the period to register a shot, with two coming on goal in the 103rd and 108th minute. Despite outshooting the Tigers 20-1, the Spartans came away with a draw. Final: 0-0 Tie
INSIDE THE STATS:
- The Spartans had four players with three or more shots: Katherine Hostage (6), Madison McElhone (4), Elena Barr (3), and Brooke Steigerwalt (3).
- Hostage and Barr each had multiple quality scoring chances. The pair had three shots on goal apiece.
- Tampa held the advantage in corner kicks 11-2.
