Aidan Smith Named SSC Defensive Player of the Week

MELOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced on Monday that the University of Tampa's Aidan Smith has been recognized as the SSC Defensive Player of the Week.

Smith receives Defensive Player of the Week honors following a clean sheet at Saint Leo last week. The Bokeelia, Florida sophomore recorded three saves and faced 10 total shots as the Spartans and Lions drew even. Smith has started 2023 with six consecutive shutouts and averages 3.8 saves per game.

Sunshine State Conference Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of September 18 - 24, 2023. Athletic Communication Directors of member institutions nominate athletes.
