Tampa Falls to Eckerd 2-0 For First Loss of Season

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Spartans suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 2-0 to the Eckerd Tritons.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST HALF: Eckerd put a lot of offensive pressure on Tampa to begin the contest and broke through in the 6^th minute to put across the first goal surrendered by the Spartans this season. The score came off a corner kick by Jillian Doerger that deflected off two Tampa defenders and into the net.

SECOND HALF: The second half was evenly played until the Tritons caught a favorable bounce in the 74^th minute. An attempted pass into the box was deflected away by the Spartans but rolled to Doerger on the left side of the field. She perfectly placed a shot in the upper right corner of the goal for her second goal of the night. The goal was unassisted.
