TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Spartans suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 2-0 to the Eckerd Tritons.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: Eckerd put a lot of offensive pressure on Tampa to begin the contest and broke through in the 6th minute to put across the first goal surrendered by the Spartans this season. The score came off a corner kick by Jillian Doerger that deflected off two Tampa defenders and into the net.
SECOND HALF: The second half was evenly played until the Tritons caught a favorable bounce in the 74th minute. An attempted pass into the box was deflected away by the Spartans but rolled to Doerger on the left side of the field. She perfectly placed a shot in the upper right corner of the goal for her second goal of the night. The goal was unassisted.
